History

My first venture into fanfiction began when I created the Ares and Xena had a “thing” webring.  I hosted this site on geocities back when they actually offered free hosting and before Yahoo! bought them out.  It helped to create a large Ares/Xena fanbase and later was mentioned on a Xena episode by Ares.

Fast forward:

Due to new Webring.com management, I lost management of the Ares/Xena webring.

I hosted my fanfiction on my homepage, EMoulton.com, under “Musings Fanfiction” (a reference to my LJ site title), but later decided that I should host my fanfiction on a separate domain than my original site and I would like a site that had a better blog format and wiki software.

I found another webhosting package on ebay by Fractix (I got the EMoulton service through Area51Services) and then had to decide on the domain name.

I wanted a .com (always go for .com if possible) and one that reflected either my fanfiction or a fandom I liked.  Although “Time Trip” is probably my most popular series to date, I didn’t really like the title.  By this time, I had started my Bleach: Cross series (short title of Bleach: Across the Dimensions), so I started thinking about names related to Bleach.  Since Shiro is my favorite character, I thought of Hyorinmaru, which unbelievably was not taken.  (Both Hitsugaya and Toshiro domains have been taken.  HyoUrinmaru (an alternative English translation) had been registered, but I always spell it Hyorinmaru anyway.)

So, in 2009, I launched Hyorinmaru (dot) com: Hyorinmaru Fanfiction Collective.  I did most of my sites there in WordPress MU, but that host went defunct so I’m hosting it under my main domain and hosting my blogs on wordpress.com.
