Sesshomaru Goes to Hell (Inuyasha: The Final Act, Episode 9)

(It was translated into “The Underworld” but I think the original translation was Hell. That’s what I’ve gathered from the http://adinuyasha.com translations.)

Finally resolution for the Inuyasha story. I, like many others, was disappointed at the end of the first Inuyasha series. It just stopped. Naraku would never die and it was live to fight another day (sounds a bit like Bleach’s Aizen). For those of us in North America who didn’t read Japanese, we would have to scour the Internet for a fan translated posting of the latest manga. Yes, I used to think Inuyasha manga was drawn out, then I discovered Bleach. No comparison.

Whether or not you’ve had the opportunity to finish reading the manga, now you can watch the anime online at Hulu.com. From what I’ve seen, it sticks very close to the manga story.

In episode 9, Sesshomaru Goes to Hell, the dog demon meets up with his mother to train for the ultimate form of Tenseiga. Rin and Kohaku are dragged to hell (subtitled as the netherworld and underworld), and Rin cannot be revived. I miss the days of the animation by hand, which was in the original series, but alas cgi, which is in this series and was in the Inuyasha movies, is faster to make. This episode was far more dramatic than the previous one where Kikyo died for the last and FINAL time. After all, Sesshomaru losing Rin is like a father losing his only child. Would anyone really feel that sorry for Inuyahsa when Kikyo, i.e. walking dead person with “borrowed”s souls, finally rests in peace? Technically, that was a happy moment. Unless maybe you are a mega Kikyo fan.

On a side note for this episode, farewell Koga. Even though you don’t appear anymore in the manga, maybe they will write you, Ginta, and Hakkaku in at least one more time in the series.

Although it hasn’t been updated in years, it is still a good resource for lyrics and fanart.
